4 Months Later...

Months and months have passed since I actually wrote in this damn thing. Since then it's been a long road.

Most notably when I was going through what I could best describe as a kind of psychosis when I just wasn't myself. I even had it pointed out to me and I was angry all the time. (Editor's note: Boy am I glad I didn't post that blog that I wrote then. It has since been deleted.) I felt like I was being pushed to the breaking point that I found myself once in my life and never want to revisit that point. I've made peace with it once before. Let's not do that again.

Megacake Meltdown was a thing in Topeka, KS. What was Megacake Meltdown? It's a gaming event where we gather to go head to head in vs games like Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Mortal Kombat, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, among others. 70 people attended and let me tell you, I ran the Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 couch for hours. HOURS!!! I'm not saying I never lost. Hell, once I even lost to one of the best UMvC3 players that I personally know. Mel can take a bow now. But I always came back. I lost 3 times in four hours. Yeah, it was a good night. Thank you all for visiting Avenger Academy.*

Megacake Meltdown is the evolution from when about 30 of us gathered in a garage, we brought tvs and gaming systems, putting our skills to the test with pride on the line. It was really the first time something like this was done since arcades have closed in Topeka. We consisted of at least 3 different gaming communities. It was a lot of fun and until Megacake Meltdown was only a one time deal. Now we have grown. But even this was merely an evolution of what we all called Poundcake.

So what is Poundcake? It spawned out of my own living room with my best of friends. We all are the fathers/mothers of Poundcake, we are the Godparents of MegaPoundcake! If you wanna know why we call it Poundcake and more about *Avengers Academy then read here.

DC Comics recently held a talent search and it was met with much controversy, but yet I wanted to be part of it. The concept was simple, create a page for their upcoming Harley Quinn #0. The controversy was that she would be trying to commit suicide and yet DC wanted it "sexy." More or less the final panel would have her naked in a bathtub about to pull a rope dropping toasters, hair dryers, and other small appliances into the bathtub with her. It was a page I started and got some good reference material, and even got a rough, ROUGH draft on paper. For anyone wondering, in the end it wasn't to be. I got called out to work the next day and couldn't finish it in time.

My inability to finish the DC talent search has renewed my own interest in my work. I have all the resources at my finger tips and have a bit of a fun project to go along with it. I've briefly explained this project with a close confidant and I'm feeling pretty good about this. The long term goal in this is to create a local media production company, producing such things as print, video, animation, and who knows where else. It's very ambitious but hey, if you don't shoot for the stars how do you ever expect to end up among them? I've actually had plans for this for a long time. Specs for a portable animation sound booth was created at one point. Yes, I said portable.

So I have alot of work ahead of me. I should be home in a few days and the first thing on my list, to get some of Eichi work done. I've got a few pages, I just need to keep moving forward with it.
